New Startup Company Looks to Help Local Artists by Doubling Office as Art Gallery

(PHILADELPHIA – July 9, 2010) –  Adam Schmidt, owner and president of DrinkPhilly.com, recently opened a new office in Old City in Philadelphia.  His organization wants to give something back to the artistic neighborhood by doubling their office as an art gallery and opening their doors for “First Fridays,” an Old City custom that all the art galleries participate in by opening their doors for free admission to the public.  Schmidt plans to showcase featured craft brewers, wine makers, and cocktails at the events to also help those local in the industry, as well as feature live music and food by local restaurants.

“I think it’s going to be a really terrific event.  Not only are we seeking to help local artists by providing a great venue at a great location, but we will have great beer/wine/cocktails that will just enhance the overall experience.”

Drink Philly Gets An Office

June 29th, 2010 by admin 1 comment »

It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it, but due to a rapid expansion of readers we are proud to announce that Drink Philly finally has an actual office.  We are more than excited to share this news with you and we invite you to stop in to check out the new place as it develops.

Here’s what this means:

The thing we are most excited about is that our awesome new office will double as an art gallery.  We are right in the middle of the “First Friday” section of Old City on 3rd and Chestnut, which means we will be opening our doors to local artists and feature great local craft brews, wines, and cocktails, complete with live music  We think this will not only help out local artists and brewers, but also be a heck of a fun time.

More content more often.  We are working around the clock to make quality articles and videos to help you decide where to drink.  Our database of bars and restaurants are going to grow tremendously over the next few weeks and you know what that means… even MORE drink specials.

Room for more interns.  We are ALWAYS looking for bright young students to help us take our organization to the next level.  Anyone interested in working in our fun and creative environment, email hireme@drinkphilly.com

From all of us at Drink Philly, thanks to everyone that helped bring us to this exciting moment.  Stay tuned for our first “Drink Philly First Friday Drink & Art Event” and we hope that you will be able to join us in many more to come.

Cheers!

Adam Schmidt

New Layout Launched

March 20th, 2010 by admin 1 comment »

The new Drink Philly website layout is launched!  I am very happy to say that after months of hard work, we can finally bring this to all of you.

This site is for YOU!  It was created out of the frustration of never knowing where to get a good drink deal and it was created with simplicity and ease of use in mind.  We want Drink Philly to be THE website you use when you want to go out and have a good time, and we will continue to work our butts off to make sure that it is the best possible tool to enable you to do this.

Here’s  a quick rundown on the new layout:

See Specials by Day – we always had this but we just have to mention it because it’s so awesome.  Click on the day at the top and see all the drink specials in Philly quickly and easily.  Then click on the bar to find out all the info you could possibly want to know about it.

Highlights of the whole site are now all on the homepage – so when you go to the main page, you can navigate articles super quick and easy.

Links to our facebook and twitter page – join our community of drinkers and keep informed whenever we post something new.

Monthly newsletter signup – no spam, just a once a month newsletter that fills you in on all the articles we posted that month.

Be the Bartender – registered users can submit their own drink recipes.  Great for professional bartenders or just the average person who likes to experiment and mix stuff.

Like I said, this site is for you and we want to hear from you of how we can make it better.  Email us at info@drinkphilly.com to tell us what you like and don’t like so we can continue to provide you with a great experience.

Cheers,

Adam Schmidt

Drink Philly Presents at Saint Joseph’s University

January 30th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Recently I had the opportunity of speaking to the American Marketing Association student group at Saint Joseph’s University.  I did about an hour presentation about how we started the company from scratch, the steps we took to form the company, the design of the logo and site, how we used social media to market and build traffic to the site without having to spend money on traditional advertising… basically a summary of everything we’ve gone through up to our current point.

And I have to say… it was really fun.  The students seemed to enjoy it and they got a taste of what an entrepreneur is looking for when dealing with marketing, and all the work that goes into building a business from the ground up.  We even got a couple of interns out of it.  I think it was a great learning experience for both the students and myself and I can’t wait to do it again.

If you’re interested in having Drink Philly come present at your school, contact us at info@drinkphilly.com.

Thanks SJU for making it such a great first experience.

Cheers,

Adam Schmidt

Drink Philly Art

January 18th, 2010 by admin 1 comment »

If you haven’t seen our Facebook page by now, you may not know about the Drink Philly art we have in our photo section.  This is a place where we take famous works of art, pictures of celebrities, and anyone else you can think of – and put a beer bottle in that person’s or figure’s hands.

We’ve made quite a few of our own so far but we welcome you all to make your own and submit them.  We’ve gotten a few user submitted entries but we’d love to get more.  Give it a try, I guarantee it becomes addicting and before you know it you’ll think… “ya know, I’ll bet  Darth Vader could use a beer in his hands in this picture.”

Don’t have the technical ability to make your own?  Tell us who you would like to see with a beer in their hands and we’ll do our best to make one for you.  Email us at info@drinkphilly.com

Here’s what we have so far:

Inside Brew – Video Series

October 19th, 2009 by admin No comments »

After recently taking a tour of Victory Brewing Company, we all decided that this would be an excellent opportunity for us to add a new feature to Drink Philly.

This feature will be “Inside Brew,” a look inside what breweries are like. Kam, Justin, and myself all got to work on our first Inside Brew edition this week and we’re all pretty excited about it. Everything is done in-house; filming, editing, music, voice-over… it’s all done by us, which makes the whole thing even cooler in my opinion.

We’re hoping to do many more videos like this with breweries, bars, events, etc… so if you’ve got an idea for us, email it to info@drinkphilly.com.

Look for the first edition of “Inside Brew” to be published on the site next week.

Cheers!

Drink Philly Launched

August 18th, 2009 by admin 2 comments »

Drink Philly is a website created for drinkers, by drinkers.  It is your one stop source to find out where you can get what you want, when you want it.  Where can you drink cheap, where can you drink well, where can you find the drink you had at your cousin’s wedding that you can’t seem to find in any of the bars you go to?  Drink Philly is your answer.  Reviews, drinks specials, drink stories, this site has it all.

We are pleased to announce our beta release of drinkphilly.com.  We all worked very hard to get this site running and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.  I’d like to especially thank the following people for all their hard work in the creation of this site.

Rama Attaluri – Website development
Corey Gee – Sales/ Marketing
Rainer Jurgens – Website development
Justin Giza – Writer
Julio Valenzuela – Writer
Rainer Jurgens – Website design
Naren Chelluri – Website development
Jimmy Lin and Doug Vergdeline – Photography
Brett Giroux – Writer
Joey Fackenthall – Writer
Kameron Markworth – Writer
Jamira Burley – Marketing intern
Jessica Phelan – Advertising intern
Todd McLean – Communications intern

Without all of you, we couldn’t have done this.

Thank you,

Adam Schmidt
